Another food topic. A standard question about one of the world's most unique foods: eggs.

I don't eat eggs that often anymore because they make my tummy hurt. But, I will make exceptions once in a while. I pretty much enjoy all of the ones I listed, but god deviled eggs are fucking amazing <333

Um... pretty much anything.
I haven't had devilled, poached, over-easy, over-hard, or raw (lol). And I'm not a huge fan of scrambled. Sunny side up and omelettes are amazing.

OMG I want to choose like 4 options.

I really love hard-boiled eggs. They are why I enjoy cobb salads so much. But I do love over-hard and omelets as well.

I think I'll pick over-hard because I need to be in a certain mood for hard-boiled.

What exactly is over hard? I voted deviled eggs but I really like eggs Benedict so I could have gone with poached....
Sunny side up and over easy I only really like it with toast so you can soak up the yolk.

Over-hard is when the egg is cooked evenly on both sides as opposed to over-easy where the egg is cooked mostly on the bottom and a little on the top.

Do over-hard and over-easy eggs taste very different from, say, sunny side up? I usually crack the 'sunny' part anyway. Because if they do, I want to try this.

Yes. I think so, anyway. Over easy might not have that much of a difference, but over hard will.

I would have picked over easy, but then you had to throw omelets into the mix. I went with that instead.

I like my eggs sunny side up or boiled. I'm actually one of the few people who actually likes soft-boiled eggs better than hard-boiled.

With some salt they're super delicious.

Definitely with you on that. As long as it's not too runny... then the texture is just gross.

I can acknowledge that soft-boiled eggs taste good, but I can't get past my OMG SALMONELLA hypochondria.

But you can't get salmonella from soft-boiled eggs if you cook them properly. The salmonella bacteria, to my knowledge, live on the outside of the shell, which is in boiling water for a bit so they're most likely all sterilised when you cook them, even if the inside isn't cooked all the way through. It's the same reason you aren't likely to get salmonella from fried eggs or even completely raw eggs so long as you crack them carefully.

I didn't say my hypochondria necessarily had any real justification. :x I just have fragments in my mind from my childhood where my parents and grandparents would never ever let me eat eggs if the slightest amount of runny yolk was present. They would seriously ask for replacements at breakfast restaurants if the whole thing wasn't cooked 100%. It's become a habit for me to shy away from runny yolk and eggs without the inside fully cooked.

Edit: I'm also kinda surprised that people here like deviled eggs. I thought those were a fairly uncommon thing up until I went to a couple holiday dinners at friends' houses that had them.

I'll eat eggs raw if they're in cookie dough. :x But mostly I just love my gooey yolk. Dunking toast in over easy egg or mushing up soft-boiled eggs and putting it on toast... probably the most satisfying breakfast I could ever have. Other than that, eggs aren't exactly my favourite to eat. I won't eat an egg plain with just salt and pepper. I need it on buttered toast or in a breakfast burrito.
