I-dosing involves donning headphones and listening to "music" - largely a droning noise - which the sites peddling the sounds promise will get you high. Teens are listening to such tracks as "Gates of Hades," which is available on YouTube gratis (yes, the first one is always free). Those who want to get addicted to the "drugs" can purchase tracks that will purportedly bring about the same effects of marijuana, cocaine, opium and peyote. While street drugs rarely come with instruction manuals, potential digital drug users are advised to buy a 40-page guide so that they learn how to properly get high on MP3s.

It doesn't work, I swear. I've tried it plenty, it's fucking boring, it just makes you feel a bit disorientated. I'm so sure that it's pretty much entirely placebo.

The fact that they claim to have a track to simulate pretty much any drug under the sun also doesn't help it's credibility IMO. No fucking way they can simulate stuff like salvia with sound.

From what I've looked into it, apparently there's a decent amount of science saying that binaural beats can change your brainwaves and produce certain effects, but... not fucking like. Drug-specific crazy hallucinations and shit people claim to have with this.

I don't know, I'm a bit skeptical. I never did end up trying it.
(and Cardy, I would suspect something on YouTube would be kind of shit quality. I don't know too much about it, but I'd assume frequency accuracy and stuff would be (theoretically) key here)

I believe standard audio compression bitrate for standard quality video on Youtube is 92kbps and standard bitrate for HD video might be either 192 or 256, I'm not sure. Either way, something like this, for it to have any potential whatsoever, would likely have to be as close to lossless as possible.

Cardy, I had a quick look. The only thing I could find in FLAC was this. They're supposed to be ~quick hits~ and like half the length.

No, it scares me a little too. Anything that puts right out there the claim that it can alter your brain waves is freaky.

That's the actual basic behind it, or at least, that's what you'll be listening to. It's just a bit disorientating. I doubt it could do any proper lasting damage.
You do have to listen to it for fucking ages though for it to have any real effect whatsoever. And also with headphones, or it won't do a thing.
