I don't work, whee. I'm going to wait a couple of months, and if I learn to actually manage my time and see that I have the time to get a job, I'm going to do so. I may try and get a job at Starbucks since I know someone who could probably do something there for me, I'd get free drinks, and the place is generally pleasant. I'd much, much prefer that over working at a clothing store or something.
... ohhh, HMV might be cool to work at. I could play some decent music on my shift there instead of the Black Eyed Peas shit they usually play. Hm.

Hopefully you would get control over the music...  Maybe they'll all be dicks and the music is played by whoever has worked there the longest. Could you imagine listening to Black Eyed Peas all day?

Smart thinking there.  At the HMV at the mall closest to my house, they always play something decent.  Last time it was Modest Mouse I believe. 

However, the one at West Edmonton Mall is wacky and there is like 4 different songs going on at once since each section plays something different.  There's one section that always plays rap music, one that usually plays something I like, like Radiohead, or Daft Punk, or something along those lines, and then upstairs is usually a live concert DVD thinger.

Oh, that's pretty cool. The HMVs I've been to have all been relatively small (not including the downtown one because I don't remember it at all), so they just have one song going. Occasionally it's alright, but usually, it's annoyed me. I'd play LC! all day. :333

Don't work for HMV. Work for a local music store where you can actually talk to the customers about the music they buy and recommend them stuff. And I'd assume you would have control over what gets played through the PA system, while at HMV I'd doubt it.

My thoughts on my old job are best summed up here.

Having a job sucks quite badly, except for having loads of money, which is awesome. They do cancel each other out to a reasonable extent.
I would say that overall I probably quite liked my job. I hated the fact that it sucked out most of my free time, especially while at school. Leaving the house at 7:30am and then not getting back until gone 10pm for three days a week was far from fun. Especially if I had homework. If anyone were to get a job while in school, I'd definitely recommend 20 hours a week as a maximum. Working until 10pm at night and then starting a shift at 6am (meaning you have to be up around 5:15am) the next morning is also really not fun.
It is nice to just be able to buy stuff when you want to though. My job paid for Oxegen, Leeds Festival, my laptop, a few other things, and I still have plenty left over.

Surely, there must be some music store in Vancouver that isn't a chain?  I think we may have one in Edmonton, probably on Whyte Ave where all the stores are more interesting and the people get stabbed at night. :x

If there is, it's not local to me. I'm 99.9% sure there isn't one in my city. There might be one in ~North~ Vancouver or something, though. There are probably a bunch in Vancouver. But that's.. like.. downtown. Or something. Like. It'd be annoying working that far away.

Actually, all the staff at the restaurant I work are chinese except for the manager who's there most often & his wife.  :x  Who are actually Japanese.

The chefs get pissed when people order combination fried rice cause it's chinese, but still not on the menu.  Lawl.
