Portishead's "Third"
« on: April 12, 2008, 02:39:35 PM »
Are you hyped about the new album? It's been ten years since we've seen a Portishead record. I watched Portishead perform tracks from the new album; I love six out of the seven tracks, but Machine Gun isn't really my thing.

I don't have too much by Portishead. I only have Dummy, but I really love some of the songs on that. It's nice to see a major act in the trip-hop genre come back. It's been a pretty neglected genre since the 90s, from what I know.

Listening to this video now. I thought the first song was pretty good, but I like the second song a lot better so far.

I got about halfway through before I wanted to stop it because I didn't want to hear all of them before the album actually came out. Sounds really good to me. A little... heavier than their old stuff.

I'd be lying if I said I knew who they were.

That said, there's people in the USA who won't have heard of the likes of The Stone Roses, and they still kicked ass.

I've heard of them a lot. I think I listened to them once, but I guess they didn't make enough of an impression.
I might check them out again later.

This is the best news I've heard in any forum, ever.

Portishead, from the name, sounds like a crappy grunge band or something, but they're really awesome. They hardly ever make an impression on people the first time, but their music is great.
