42,000 Yen for two melons. For those of you who don't not the conversion, that's around $400. For two pieces of fruit...
Makes that $16,000 racing peripheral look like a steal :P

It's a muskmelon.
Aside from the fact that it's intended to be bought as a gift, I have no idea why the hell the price is so high.

Apparently it's the fact that they're grown with a lot of attention, so are immaculate. Someone compared them to Bonzai trees.

Fluffy Cocaine:
All of you should look at the prices on Harry & David's fruit some time. It's not quite that exorbitant, but it's ridiculously expensive.
