OK, this is going nowhere, so a topic to start on.

Underage sex. It's increasing in numbers each year. How do we as a society curb it?

You're not going to curb it, and I don't see why you should. Just make sure sexual safety is educated and supported as much as possible.

So it's just about sex in general?

Even though I haven't had it, I don't really feel any need to. It's not a turn on for me. You could even say I hate regular, old, plain sex. Boring stuff.

Fetishes are where it's at, man. I'd greatly, greatly prefer experimenting with them to having sex.

Sex ed should definitely be taught as long as the teachers actually know what they're talking about.

Just look at the demoralization of society and see how bullshit that actually is.

We've already had this debate, though.

Oh god. Agreed.

We're blaming all of that on sex? Or did you mean something specifically?

How can you exactly say that if you're a virgin? :x

Well, he still understands the concept of sex, and if the concept doesn't turn him on, then there's a fairly good chance the real thing wouldn't either.

I'm blaming a lot of it on sex, yeah. How can you be so ignorant as to not see that part of it?

But obviously, you will not be convinced that sex is a problem on society, so I have a new approach to this argument.

One of the many things that make the whole "underage sex is not a big deal, just make it safer" argument bullshit is the fact that underage people that are stupid enough to take the risk and have sex in the first place are probably not going to use precautions and practice safer sex.

Why do you think that teen pregnancy correlates so strongly with how much younger people have sex? I know there is an obvious relation, since young girls need to have sex in order to get pregnant, obviously, but the correlation is so strong because kids are not intelligent enough and do not take the time to practice safer sex. They don't get tested. They don't use condoms. They don't bother with any of that. They're in it for a quick bang and they don't care about anything beyond that.

Now, there may be younger people who do have sex and actually do take the time to practice safer sex. Congratulations to them, they've saved their lives from the tremendous burden of having a child or getting an STD at a young age.
But many of them don't. That's why we have 15 year olds with gonorrhea. That's why we have girls (and boys with the class to stick with the girl) ruining their lives by getting pregnant and either having a baby, or getting an abortion, which is just as much a moral burden as having a baby is a fiscal burden.

Having sex is a risk. As many slogans might say, abstention is the only thing with a 100% chance of preventing pregnancy. Unfortunately, it's true. The closest we can get is 99.9% and that's not enough. Condoms give you a 90-95% chance, from what I've heard, which factors in the possibility of it breaking. Is a quick fling really worth risking a 5-10% chance of getting pregnant? A 5-10% chance of getting an STD if one of the teenagers has an STD and doesn't know it?

Perhaps the smarter people out there that do take the necessary precautions should be able to have sex. Young people these days are not smart, and it's the mainstreaming of sex that has caused a large part of it.

Don't get me wrong; it would still be pleasurable, of course, but I don't feel any sort of attraction to the idea. It's not interesting enough.

I don't really care as much if teenagers are having sex or not. Although there can be a problem with the children that come from unwanted pregnancies and their harsh lives. It's the teenagers own damn problem and it doesn't have any affect on me.

By the conflicts sex creates I was thinking more along the lines of pedophiles, bestiality and of course rape. If it comes to saving some teenage girl from getting pregnant because she thinks her boyfriend won't love her if she doesn't fuck him or saving a sexually abused child, guess who I'm going to save.

I am completely and entirely pro-choice (but that's a whole other debate, so I'll save the details), so the risk of getting pregnant does not seem very important to me, to be honest. Of course, it's always better to stay on the safe side and avoid the whole unnecessary situation.

Wait, what? A condom gives you a 90-95% of preventing pregnancy, but what does that have to do with STDs? I'm sure the chances of getting an STD with a condom are much lower than 5-10%, particularly among teenagers?

The chances of getting an STD in sex between one person with an STD and one person without when the person with an STD is using the condom is much like the chance of getting pregnant.

It's not that I'm not blaming anything on sex, it's that I know there's no way to stop kids from having sex, so I don't see what else we can do besides educate them. I'm wondering exactly what problems you're blaming on sex.

Unfortunately, we've found out leaving people to their own devices doesn't turn out too well. Letting people do what they want is fine and all idealistically, but at least give them the information and education they need to make good decisions. If they don't after that, then maybe you can say it's their fault.

But every girl is able to get pregnant. Not every other partner has an STD. One should not have sex, thinking they have a 5-10% chance of coming out with an STD. :x
