I don't think he was meaning to change his beliefs on a whim. His parents are obviously stressed about his not being Mormon, and I guess all those ~talks~ must have made him feel pressured to once again do what he'd been doing his entire life.

I dunno how to explain it further, but with the way it was, I could understand him. :x

Rosti, perhaps he wasn't that devout of a Mormon to begin with?  I was raised Roman Catholic and I totally abandoned it when I was around their age. :x

However, Mormons are almost a different breed.  Family expectations I think are set at a higher level.  I have a feeling that issues will be ran into, but I wish Kylie the best of luck!

The older he got, the less devout of a Mormon he became. With the stuff he did in his earlier ages, I believe that. LoL

So, he talked to his parents last night. They did the whole usual pissy religious arguments. "If there's no God, then why would you live your life or be nice to others? There's no reason!" "Does your landlord know you're fornicating? Because you're bringing evil spirits into the house." etc.

But, he just let them know he still loves them very much and they still love him too. So the patchwork comes.

It's not very Christian to not accept who your son is for who he is and put him through all that crap because he feels that's the best path for his life, is it?

Okay, I know I'm going off on a tangent but I fucking hate religious people like that so much!

I mean, are you really a true Christian or whatever the fuck if you're only nice to people so God will like you rather than because it makes other people happy? If you're only nice to people because God tells you to you're still an asshole at heart.

I mean I could argue that all acts of kindness root from ones own self-satisfaction but to actually say that there's no reason to be nice to people if there isn't some bullshit God to impress is just... UGHHHH

It isn't, but as a general rule of thumb, if "Christian" is used as an adjective like that, actual Christians are really the least likely to be very Christian. If something is "not very Christian," most Christians, especially the most devout ones, are probably doing it.
