To be honest with you, the only thing that's kept me from trying out Final Fantasy is his song titles. Lmfao. :x

Please, you are SO last week. I was listening to him from before you were born, son!

Also, if you find any of his albums in store (the only store I use for music) let me know, I've only ever heard him over YouTube. He does a Stars cover that is to die for.
Yeah, I know, I'm really really late onto FF, but I figured if you hadn't already heard him then the love should be spread.

...to be perfectly honest in return, I was exactly the same Freeze. :x He poos clouds? What the hell? I'll pass.

I still have to listen to that album.  The name sorta kept me away.  I'd probably love it though.

I forgot we had this thread.  A friend of mine recently introduced me to the group Cherry Poppin' Daddies.  They're a sort of modern day swing band.  I think they're quite good and thought some of you might be interested in looking into them.

You can sample a few songs on their Last.fm.

Wow, you people would be the LAST I'd think to shy away because of titles. You crazy kids and your paragraphs for song names. Yeesh.

Final Fantasy is still good, still whimsical, still... violin. Good stuff.

Band names actually hugely affect whether or not I check them out, unless they've been recommended. :x

Eh, most people here probably know, but I thought I'd recommend them here.

The Dropkick Murphys.
Really excellent celtic punk band. Their newer stuff is less punk though, more moving towards the rock/metal aspect, in terms of the vocals at least.
Influences such as The Pogues and The Dubliners.
I'd say that anyone who loves Rise Against will probably like them, because I don't see their music being massively different. It's a similar sort of music, just a little less heavy and with banjos and bagpipes.

Sample Videos:
State Of Massachusetts
I'm Shipping Up To Boston (On the soundtrack to The Departed)
Famous For Nothing

Bagpipe is the most annoying instrument in the world, maybe overshadowed by the Digereedoo.

Not when used with brilliance as a companion to rock music.

You are so wrong it hurts. I love the sound of both of them and would love to play either. Anything with either is worth listening too.

The Dropkick Murphys, along with Flogging Molly, are two bands that I'd love to be a fan of, I just always forget about them because no one shoves them in my face or brings them up as their #1 band. Thanks for the reminder, I'll have a listen (again.)

I do like Flogging Molly, but I can't really listen to their stuff too much because in my head they're just an inferior Dropkick Murphys. I know their music isn't completely the same, but I prefer the Dropkicks, and if I'm in the mood for that sort of music then I'd rather just listen to them.

So, I finally got my hands on a Bend Sinister album, and I recommend them to most everyone. They're a "progressive pop" group. I put a song of theirs in a muxtape I posted a while ago.

Obligatory Goldfrapp, Cocteau Twins, and Portishead mention.

Goldfrapp

Yes. It was awesome when she showed up on the GTA IV soundtrack.

Is there actually an OST for GTAIV? 'Cause there is some REALLY good music on there. I hope I don't have to ZiT! every fucking song and compile it myself...  There's got to be bigger fans than I out there.

It wasn't. Oh well, they'll compile it eventually.

As long as it's not a KNOCK KNOCK joke, sure.

An OST for GTA would be great, but it would also be massive.  There's so much on there.
