The Strange Boys.
It's like if Bob Dylans song Rainy Day Women made a band.
It's a pretty fun album (cleverly called "and Girls Club") and definitely at least worth a listen through.

I've been listening to tons of different albums lately but finding an album that speaks to me has been extremely rare...

So,

I'm going to recommend The Rural Alberta Advantage, although, I'm not too sure how you much you guys will actually enjoy it.

Canadian indie rock about heartbreak and hometowns (in Alberta).  They are a bit odd in the sense that they remind me of a whole bunch of different artists I enjoy, but I cannot place my finger on who exactly they remind me of.  Deer Tick does come to mind though (but don't let that put you off from checking them out).

Their song about Frank's Slide is amazing.

Alex and Jacob may like them.  Tina will probably hate them.  Not sure about everyone else.  One of you check them out.

I'm going through a huge obsession with Electric President right now. And I recommend them to everyone because goddamn their self-titled album is incredible.

I can see why someone could find him irritating, yeah. :x I personally love him, though.

Some of you might want to check out a British indie band called Canterbury. They were supporting Billy Talent last night and despite all looking about 14 years old they sounded pretty good.

Plus they've got their album up for free download here.

An unmusical recommendation!

READ BRANDON SANDERSON. Author of the Mistborn trilogy, Elantris, and Warbreaker... finish Robert Jordan's books.

He's really good. Like, freakishly so. The kind of author who knows how to create a mess of loose ends and tie them up neatly at the end. Magic systems that make sense and actually work. Good characters. HE'S JUST GOOD. Really big in Utah, I'm not sure about elsewhere though.

Doesn't the first kind of preclude the second? :x

I'd probably be able to appreciate it more if I knew what the fuck they were singing.  Very cool visually for the video though.

Olafur Arnalds, particularly the songs "30:55" and "33:26"
It's kind of post-rock-y. Or like, "modern classical" I guess. The former song has some really nice piano, and the latter song has some reaaally nice strings.
I grabbed this album (Eulogy for Evolution) on recommendation for good, ambient "work music" but it's starting to become too distracting because it's too good, haha.

Last.fm's similar artists include Balmorhea and Sigur Ros. In my opinion, it's not very similar (closer to Balmorhea than Sigur Ros, though it's still a stretch), but if you particularly like those bands, then this is worth checking out, imo.

I want to listen to both.  They are on their way in the mail.  Haha.

I figured I bought all the other Broken Social Scene albums so I might as well get the new one.

It's one of my favorites from them.
Don't really be expecting anything new though.

In all honesty, when I look back on it, half of their stuff is quite bleh.  It's not bad, but it's not particularly amazing.

So, I will go in not expecting much, but at least hoping that it's better than those bullshit Presents albums that just are all bleh (for the most part).

Haven't listened to the Presents albums, but I thought it paled in comparison to the self-titled and YFIIP, which in my opinion are overall solid albums with a few absolutely fantastic songs

I still have to listen to the self-titled, but their albums are solid.  Just, some songs are pretty bleh when listened out of context.

I will expand on this when I am sober maybe. :x
